Self-Evaluations: I want you to come to our first skill workout on the 29th with an idea of two areas you want to personally focus on when it comes to your game and your skills. Before you can participate in drills I want these skills to be written down, I want you to evaluate where the skills are at currently and why you think you think these two areas are the ones you want to focus on. The reason I want this is two-fold, it tells me where your thoughts are on your game and secondly I will make a conscience effort to communicate and work with you over the summer to raise your ability and confidence in these areas. Please make a note to yourself, if I see you trying to scribble a couple of words down on a piece of paper as your walking through the door, I will ask you to go home and come back on the 30th ready to go. Take this seriously, if you don’t I will be questioning your commitment to the Tiger program.
Read the following and learn how to write goals without stress and headache… save time - get it done.

Please give this handout to your parents for them to review also. This is mandatory!
Parents I would like to have a parent meeting on June 5th at 7:00 pm at Tully’s down off Ruston Way. We will discussing the summer and season. It’s important they attend. I will be counting on their participation this year in the areas of Booster Club activities, stats and score keeping, announcing games, videoing matches and various other areas. We will need your help to accomplish our goal of building a top volleyball program for our school! Please attend.
Other things to start thinking about is our serve-a-thon fundraiser which we will have during fall camp. I would like to make enough money this coming season to take the team to either a team camp or a tournament down in Oregon or California in 2008. This is something I want to try and make it an annual thing for the program. Also I want to have a team pot luck with everyone’s family and have a sand 2o2 tournament one day this summer. Start talking about it with teammates and your families.

Summer 2007
What we accomplish this summer will be the key to our success this fall. There is no doubt in my mind that we should finish high in districts and challenge the traditional powers for a berth to the state tournament. If we take our summer seriously and work toward that goal as a team and most of all believe in yourself and your teammates, then we can achieve this!!! Just so you all know… I BELIEVE IT!!
As individuals I expect that when you walk onto the court you are ready to go as hard as you can, constantly pushing your level higher and higher when it comes to focus and effort.
Both as a team and as individual players it’s the small things that make the difference. We are a good team with good players… ask yourself what is the difference between our team and yourself as a player than those I play against.
We will be voting on summer captains on May 29th which will be our first day of workouts. I want you to pick two of your peers. Take this seriously, choose those who you respect and know that will set examples in practice with their work ethic and enthusiasm. The two that are selected, I will expect you to set the tone for the team.
Conditioning: I have spent a lot of time researching and watching a workout program that has made those players willing to work hard gain 3-4 inches in their jumping and their foot speed and endurance has also improved tremendously in a few short months. Our goal will be to all be quicker and jump higher before we go into fall camp. We will be purchasing equipment to help us accomplish and track our work in this area. I will also expect that each of you will find some time at least two days a week that you can do a short but extensive home workout to help maintain your level in between our work as a team.
Commitment: Make no mistake this season will be different than any season you have had at Stadium High. Make sure you are committed to the program or you might reconsider continuing with Tiger Volleyball.

Overview 2006:
Last season we did a great job of moving our Tiger Volleyball program to the door of the competition. I believe we made a statement that we are a team to be not taken lightly. The games we won against Central Kitsap, Olympia, Gig Harbor and competitive games against South Kitsap and others showed our improvement from the past seasons.
We are only two points from qualifying for districts, which again showed how far we have come in the past few years. Last season, we were a senior dominated program, many of the teams in our league think that we lost all of our players and talent. When I hear this I just smile, I know differently. I look at the core group of players coming back from the varsity and a few from the JV group and know we have a stronger group than those players we lost.
When I look over the video and reflect back to last season, I know we improved as a program, but I can see room for great improvement. I am very encouraged by how many of you played club this past year.
This past season was a transition year, a lot of things we did will not be a part of this coming season. Last season we kept two extra players on the varsity team which we will not do this season. This coming season I will be shortening up the rotation keeping us as competitive as possible. If you are not a starter and want to play you will have to show me you are better at a certain role or skill set to gain playing time in critical games or matches. Another way to make the floor or to stay on the floor will be through being in the best condition.
Our goal from this day forward is to become the best team we can, to win or compete in every single game/match this year. We will work very hard this summer on conditioning. I expect that a lot of our matches will be going 4-5 games. The Bellarmine’s, Wilson’s, and Central Kitsap’s better be prepared for our team who will be doing everything possible to win every precious point!
