To all players,
I am very excited about the season and I hope you are too! Please use these next few weeks to prepare your body and mind. These first few days of tryouts and practices will be extremely difficult. Coming to tryouts out of shape increases your chance for injury or not playing up to your ability.
For the next few weeks, I suggest doing some power walking or jogging, crunches and push-ups. Also lunges and squats for your legs. Jumping rope and playing catch with a softball or baseball are also good ways to get your volleyball muscles ready for tryouts. And of course if you can find some volleyball to play that would be great too. I know on Wednesday nights they play volleyball at the YMCA.
I can’t stress enough; showing up thinking tryouts are for getting into shape will be a mistake.
As of August 1st, rules say the coaching staff can’t have contact with you. So, please review this information and check our website stadiumvolleyball.com for additional information.
The coaching staff will be evaluating you on these areas. Our tryouts will be done on a point system. Please review this closely and be prepared in all areas listed below
Skill - 50%
Aggressiveness - 10%
Athleticism - 10%
Attitude - 10%
Focus - 10%
Communication - 10%
Maximum points a player can achieve is 100. Note each player making a team will be given a review by their coach as to their strengths and weaknesses.

Hydrate, stretch and warm-up while coaches put players into 6 player groups, these groups are for skill evaluation only. It doesn’t represent teams ie varsity, jv, or c-team. It allows the coaching staff to focus on smaller groups at a time for the evaluation process. Note teams 7 and 8 will mainly be incoming players that staff has no playing information on.
Groups could change at any time. Depending on how many groups we have there might be periods where your group might not be involved in a drill. I suggest you watch the other groups, so you get a feel for when it’s your turn. There will be a short break to hydrate at the start of each 20 minute segment. Please have your personal water bottles marked clearly with your name. I don’t want the water fountain as your water bottle!
